Summer Music Academy
In 1998 International competition for Young Pianists in memory of Vladimir Horowitz initiated a "School of performing mastery". Significant events of the national musical life were the master classes of Warren Thomson (Australia), Vladimir Krainev, Vadim Rudenko, Viktor Abramian (Russia), Norma Fisher (Great Britain), Dina Yoffe, Emanuel Krasovsky, Vera Vaidman (Israel), Adam Wibrowski (Poland), Michael Markov (the Netherlands), Bernd Goetzke (Germany), Mark Lakirovich, Vladimir Panteleyev (the USA), Therese Dussaut (France) Yakov Kasman (the USA), recognized Ukrainian professors - Igor Riabov, Valeriy Kozlov, Borys Arkhimovych, Yuriy Kot.
In 2000 "School of performing mastery" was transformed into the International Summer Music Academy. The Academy's curriculum is aimed at the comprehensive improvement of the participant's professional training, offers a complex of disciplines which is a basis of performer's practical activity.
For the years over 500 young musicians from 15 countries enjoyed master classes of famous pedagogues. The Direction of the Academy does a large work to encourage the gifted youth. Annually, the Direction grants scholarships; participants are invited to take part in the concerts organised by the international Charitable Fund of Vladimir Horowitz competition, and receive an opportunity to practice in the educational institutions abroad etc.
Great attention in the programme of the International Summer Music Academy is paid to the wide and various concert practices. Participants have a possibility to perform in the International Festival "Kyiv Summer Music Evenings", the concerts of which are held in the magnificent open-air scene on the bank of Dnipro and attract thousands of citizens and guests of the Ukraine's capital - Kyiv with the following orchestras: National Honoured Academic Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, conductor - Honoured Figure of Arts of Ukraine Volodymyr Sirenko, State Academic Pop-Symphony Orchestra, conductor - Honoured Figure of Arts of Ukraine Natalia Ponomarchuk, Academic Symphony Orchestra "Philharmonic" (Chernigiv), conductor - Honoured Figure of Arts of Ukraine Mykola Sukach.
